My photo
Hi I graduated with a 2:1 from The University of Leeds after studying Textile Design, specialising in Woven Textiles. I really enjoyed my course and all the experience it gave me. On my blog, I will write about my favourite things and show some of my own work that i have created. Thank you for taking the time to check out my blog! (Unless otherwise stated the images on my blog belong to me. If you wish to use my photos please credit me wherever they are placed. Thanks.)

My most recent...Currently in working progress.

This final semester i intended to bring together all the skills and knowledge I have learnt over my time at university so my designs could be my most successful to date... My main inspiration came from a trend analysis on the English country cottage theme, including chipped paint on wood, doilies lots of creams and varieties of white.

Second Year. Project Two. University of Leeds.

During the second semester of my second year i choose to create woven pieces based upon photography, which i had taken in Sheffield in damp conditions as it was turning dark. There was interesting movements of light which had a large influence on my development work.

Second Year. Project One. University of Leeds.

By this stage of my degree i had chosen to specialise in Woven Textiles and was becoming increasingly aware of how interesting it could be to bring the increasingly old fashioned way of creating textile look much more modern and innovative. I took inspiration from the feeling of nostalgia and vintage object, considering the work of highly successful designers E.g. Cath Kidston.

First year. Woven Textiles Project. University of Leeds.

This collection was based upon the same project inspired by Gaudi, mainly considering the colours and textures found in his work. These images are of the hand loom woven pieces.

By the end of level one it was clear to me that i was most interested in woven textiles and i enjoyed both tapestry weaving and using the hand looms. The images above are the tapestry collection. This project was inspired by the architect, Gaudi.

Art Thread- Woven Textiles http://www.artsthread.com/p/beatricelarkin

I felt totally inspired by the advernturous woven textiles exhibited on the Art Thread online portfolios. Showing the end use in such a stylish way and a close up of the fabric is a great way to get the feel of the fabirc across.
